GDF SUEZ receives the “Shareholder Democracy Award”
GDF SUEZ won the “Shareholder Democracy Award” during the 9th edition of the corporate governance ceremony organized by AGEFI in partnership with law firm Latham et Watkins.
The honor recognizes GDF SUEZ’s daily commitment to involving shareholders in Group life.
GDF SUEZ was a pioneer, for example, in the development of electronic voting to facilitate the participation of all shareholders in Shareholders’ Meetings and is actively participating in developing Votaccess, a system shared by businesses and banks that makes it easy for holders of bearer shares to vote on the internet site of their own financial intermediary.
The Group also offers shareholders the democratic feature of selecting from a choice of communications channels that best suit their needs, and has developed an innovative electronic system to run France’s first e- club for shareholders.
GDF SUEZ is particularly committed to developing strong, confident relations with shareholders and has thus increased opportunities to meet individual shareholders, listen to them, and exchange with them. The Group is also very actively involved with institutional investors both in France and abroad.
At the awards ceremony, Gérard Mestrallet, Chairman and CEO of GDF SUEZ, stated: “I dedicate this honor to GDF SUEZ shareholders who have so faithfully supported the Group’s transformation into a world energy leader and who continue to involve themselves today supporting our development in emerging countries.
” The “Shareholder Democracy Award” is the Group’s 14th recognition in four years for its shareholder related activities.
