ENGIE, through its subsidiary ENGIE Axima, has been chosen by the shipyard MV Werften within the scope limit of the building of 2 XXL Cruise ships
This 200 million Euro contract concerns the whole installations of the accommodation, machinery room and chilled and heating water production. This contract represents at this time the biggest contract of ENGIE Axima Marine department and which will mobilize more than 300 persons in France, Germany and Finland between the beginning of the design phase in 2017 and the delivery of the second cruise ship in 2022.
The Wismar shipyard MV Werften, located on the coast of the Baltic sea in the north of Germany has contracted ENGIE Axima as part of the building of 4 XXL cruise ships (2 options) intended for the Chinese market, for the ship-owner Star Cruise.
The MV Werften order concerns two cruise ships and two other optional with a comparable size to the Harmony of the Seas : 204 000 tonnage and 2500 cabins, a capacity which enable them to welcome the biggest number of passengers in the world.
A special attention has been paid to the environmental dimension of the project through some very challenging performance commitments and a selection of very energy efficient equipment.

A Unique consortium for an XXL order
ENGIE Axima and the Finnish equipment supplier KOJA Marine Oy, which has already collaborated on some same size cruise ships, has gathered together in a consortium AXIKO for which ENGIE Axima is lead. This consortium has permitted to KOJA Marine Oy to take advantage of ENGIE Axima experience on such big projects, and to ENGIE Axima to put at MV Werften disposal a dedicated technical interface.

The design and the commissioning part will be realized by the two partners and ENGIE Axima will be in charge of the assembly and the pre commissioning of the equipment as well as the overall project management.
The design and engineering has already started and installation works are expected to take off at the beginning of 2018, for a delivery of the first cruise ship in 2021 and the second one in 2022.
